Medical Tourism

Hospitals In the US, the cost of hospital care has skyrocketed in recent years. Many people who have need of healthcare are either underinsured or uninsured. As a result the medical tourism industry has been created and hospitals around the world have answered the need for quality affordable healthcare.
Some of these hospitals are private and some are designated as hospitals for care of non-residents only. Countries like Costa Rica, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, India and Thailand have all made a name for themselves in this arena.
Hospitals around the world are now being accredited by some of the same groups that have been accrediting hospitals in the United States for many years:
* JCI Accreditation – (The Joint Commission International) This group is related to the group that accredits hospitals in the Unites States called "The Joint Commission". * ISO Accreditation – Also a familiar name because of so many industries that get ISO Accreditation.
The cost of these accreditations is high and some hospitals have not chosen to spend the funds to complete them. |
