Passports & Visas

Passports are always an issue when you are planning international travel. The online information for the passport office for the United States can be found at: http://www.state.gov and look for travel and business.

If you already have a destination ticket, it might be possible to expedite the passport process by going to one of the 13 regional passport agency offices

http://www.travel.state.gov/passport/ about/agencies/agencies_913.html A Visa is a document or a stamp on a passport from a country allowing a person to stay in a there for a specific amount of time for a specific purpose (like tourism). Some countries may require that you have a visa and others may give a tourist an automatic visa specific amount of time.

Information is available online at each country's embassy. Travel agents and medical travel planners usually have this information as well.

Remember to also find out if you need a converter box for your hair dryer, your DVD player or whatever else that you may choose to bring for your recuperation time.
