Medical Travel Facilitators Medical travel planners call themselves by several names but you will find that most have some variation or combination of common services:
* Specialties in certain countries. Some may specialize in one country up to several countries. * Relationships with physicians, dentists, and hospitals who handle certain specialties. (i.e., Cardiology) * Assistance with transfer of testing information x-rays, etc. between patient and dentist or physician/hospital. * Help obtaining a passport and visa, if needed. * Travel arrangements including airline, hotel, and transportation bookings. * Arrangements for an in-country host (if the hospital does not do this service) to greet the medical traveler at the airport. This host will escort you to the hospital and in some cases will be a person that you can contact if you have any specific needs during your stay.
The travel planner is most often paid by the doctor and/or hospital. Verify that when you speak with them.
Medical travel planners can be important links for the medical tourist, generally acting as coordinator between all of the involved parties. |
